Documentary Club

Ok folks it's time to select a film for February/March. We're really happy with our turn outs at our local showings in DC and San Fran and highly recommend you all try putting together some showings in your community as well - we can grow this group in your space as well as the digital space.

I think we may have been a little ambitious selecting two films a month so I'm going to suggest we pick one this month and try to get folks participating in the discussion (it's been a little quiet in the forums). So please fill up the forum with suggestions for films we haven't watched yet. The tab "Docs We Love" is full of films suggested by others already so if you can't come up with a new one - check out the list and pick one. If we need to we can do a poll again to let folks choose a film.

In DC this month we'll be attending a local benefit screening of War Child at Union Station 9 on February 19th. Please check out the blog post on the main page for more info DC folks!

I'd also like to know if there are other features you'd like added to the site. Do you want to discuss documentary making? Film making? Anything related to documentaries aside from a specific film selection? Hit me up at scott dot stead at gmail dot com and we can talk about it. Or just message me here on the ning site.

Cheers! Looking forward to another great month!

Maybe for March you might enjoy one of these.

We (Winston Salem Doc Club) are going to Watch Moving Midway this Wednesday due to the local tie in and a Black History Month Theme.

Doc Pop make a great suggestion - how do you guys feel about Heckler?

I have seen Heckler it wasn't too bad. It does have a little female nudity in it. Our group could never watch it due to the library's policy but it is pretty good, I liked the bonus features in it a lot.

Did you know you can watch it for free? (SuperSizeMe that is.) A bunch of great docs are being hosted over http://www.snagfilms.com/. You can watch them, embed them, share them. I think it's great. :) It's as it should be.
